HOLE-IN-ONE CHALLENGE: Introducing the Craigs Investment Partners $20,000 Hole-In-One Challenge. This is a classic hole-in-one promotion, set up on our notorious par 3 11th (or the 15th playing the Alternative Course). All players have one chance during the first round of qualifying, and the first person to score an “ace” will win the money. That’s $10,000 in cash to the player and a corresponding donation of $10,000 to local charity The Sunrise Foundation. The Sunrise Foundation has been connecting generous people with causes that matter in the Gisborne-Tairawhiti region since 2014. In the last 10 years it has granted over $1.3 million to 129 different worthy causes. Craigs Investment Partners is New Zealand’s leading personal wealth investment advisory firm. Since 1989 the local Gisborne team of experienced financial advisers has help families and businesses improve their financial position through their bespoke investment advice and expertise.

We all know that the elusive hole-in-one, the “ace” in golf, doesn’t happen that often and for some golfers it never happens. But remember, the last time we held a hole-in-one promotion attached to the Poverty Bay Men’s Open, in 2019, a player in the first four to tee-off in the first qualifying round, hit his tee-shot straight into the hole on the par three 2nd and took the big prize. It was all over before 7.30am! So, it’s always on.

PLUS! The Emerre & Hathaway/BDO Nearest-To-Pin Shoot Out

All entrants are automatically in this novelty competition.

The Nearest To Pin winners from each of the Par 3 holes during both rounds of qualifying on Thursday will take part in a final on the 18th fairway on Saturday at the completion of the tournament.

There will be one Wild Card chosen on Friday night with the condition that the person who is drawn must be present in the clubhouse.

Potentially there will be seven golfers lined up on the 18th on Saturday with two attempts each from 100 metres of getting Nearest To The Pin.  (However if one person wins more than one approach during qualifying, they will be given two chances per win.)

A REMINDER: One of the conditions of playing in the Men's Open is that your are bound to play all your matchplay engagements. This means if you've had a disappointing first day of matchplay on the Friday, you still must turn up for the morning's round on Saturday. Failure to do so means you will be barred from the next edition of the event. However, those playing for minor glory on Saturday morning can play a round robin so long as the deciscion is unanimous within the four.
